The Social Network

We saw The Social Network today. A Funny and acerbic script by Aaron Sorkin and pacey dialogue and direction that reflects the characters ADT autistic minds, I really enjoyed it.

The performances are brilliant especially Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake who play extreme characters both paranoid computer nerds and Andrew Garfield who plays more of a straight talking good hearted guy.

It’s the story of Mark Zuckerberg. A  socially autistic guy who thinks others are inferior and doesn’t understand how to treat his friends. Ironically he screws over the only true friend he has in order to create this network of online ‘friends’ and get rich. The friend he’s screwed over are able to use his public online activities to build a case against him.

I guess really it’s about the commodification of friendship and how we have all bought into that too, but really – it isolates us.
