I am absolutely delighted to announce that The Cogheart Adventures Trilogy is to be published in the U.S by Jolly Fish Press, which is a division of North Star Publishing Ltd. I am so excited to work with everyone at North Star and Jolly Fish Press, and the plan is to bring the first book in the series, Cogheart, to the U.S. for Spring 2019. Here is the official announcement…

Starbeck School’s stunning mechanimals…

Steam irons and stove pipes! Check out this cogtastic Cogheart artwork sent to me by Starbeck School. There’s diagrams of all the seasons new mechanimals – they all appear to have the latest in poop shoot technology!!! 💩 – plus guides on how to look after your mechanical owl. What to know about your mechanical cat. Instructions for a mechanical guineapig who runs on oil and hot steam! And a story about a malfunctioning robot! Fantastic stuff!

Lily’s School report and a recipe for toasted teacakes

I discovered these the other day- some fabulous pieces of artwork that Usborne created for Cogheart when they were pitching for the book – my favourite is Lily’s school report – from Lady Octavia Scrimshaw’s Young Ladies Academy, where she is holed up at the start of the story. As you can see from her teacher’s notes, she is really no the best of students…

Cogheart reading and Interview – West Thornton Primary

Last summer, I did an event at West Thornton Primary School in Croydon, with the lovely folks from Pea Green Boat Books. The school had the most amazing cakes in their bake sale and they also had their own radio station where they recorded me reading an extract from the book. Afterwards we did an interview for their radio station. You can hear both the extract and interview below…

This is from chapter 11 – the first time Lily and Robert meet…

And here I am being interviewed afterwards by one of the students about what it was like to be a children’s writer…

Thanks to West Thornton Primary for sharing the clips online via Audioboom.
